With the opening of .NOTE (닷노트) , Haeundae has a new fun activity for a date. Originating from Seoul, .Note is Korea's Private Self-Perfume Workshop, and has just opened its first Busan location.
The workshop is housed in a sleek, minimalist space that feels both modern and inviting. You'll take place around a big table that has a tablet for each 2 seats. The tablet is where you'll follow the workshop on. This is great because you can go at your own pace, and more importantly, it provides both Korean and English.
It begins with a concise yet informative overview of perfumery fundamentals: the classic pyramid structure of top, heart, and base notes; the major scent families (citrus, floral, woody, oriental, and fresh); and basic principles of harmony and contrast. The explanations are straightforward, avoiding jargon while providing just enough depth to inform your choices without overwhelming you.
What sets .note apart from similar franchises is its emphasis on creative freedom. Many perfume-making workshops elsewhere rely on pre-determined “successful” recipes, guiding participants toward safe, market-tested blends. Here, the approach is refreshingly open-ended. The freedom to experiment was quite engaging.
The workshop takes about an hour, which passes quickly but doesn't feel rushed. The environment is calm, with soft background music and evolving aromas. It’s an ideal setting for a date.
Your final blend is transferred to a glass bottle, complete with a custom label. You can name it anything and the staff ensures the packaging is elegant. Before leaving, the central table serves as a built-in photo station: a neutral, well-lit surface surrounded by curated props.
For anyone in Haeundae looking to step beyond the standard tourist itinerary, this workshop is a standout. Whether you’re a fragrance enthusiast, a couple seeking a unique date idea, or simply someone who appreciates hands-on craftsmanship, .NOTE delivers.
